Minecraft cat house ideas

A cat house in Minecraft is a house that looks like a cat, or has a giant cat on it. Think pointy ears on the roof, a big face on the front wall, whiskers, paws by the door and a tail curling out the back. Kids search for cat house ideas all the time, and it is one of the easiest animal builds to get right because a cat is basically a box with two triangles on top.

Below are three cat houses you can copy: a small orange tabby, a grey kitty cottage with a pond, and a giant sitting cat you can walk into. Each one has a blueprint you can step through layer by layer and a list of every block. If you play in GenieCrafter, you can also type the wish in chat and the genie builds its own version in your family's private world.

Tips for building your own

Start with a box, then add the cat

A cat is mostly a block of colour. Build the body or head as a plain hollow box first, then add ears, eyes, nose and whiskers. If you try to shape the whole thing like a real cat from the start, it tends to look lumpy.

Ears make the cat

Two ears on top of a box already say cat. Stack them in steps: a wide row, then a narrower one, then a single block at the tip. Use a pink block on the front face of each ear so they read from far away.

Put the face on the front wall

Eyes should be 3 or 4 blocks wide and 2 or 3 tall, with a black pupil down the middle so they look like cat slits. Use stained glass for the eyes so light shines out at night. Add a pink nose, a few black blocks for the mouth and a line of iron bars on each side for whiskers.

Pick colours that look like real cats

Orange concrete with black stripes makes a tabby. Light grey with white paws makes a grey kitty. White wool with black and orange patches makes a calico. Stripes are easy: just lay 1-block-wide black lines across the roof.

Use the door as the mouth or the paws

A one-block door under the nose looks like a cat mouth. On a bigger cat, put the entrance between the two front paws instead. Either way, it keeps the front of the house from looking like a plain wall.

Light the inside so nothing spawns

Cat houses are mostly hollow, which means mobs can spawn inside in the dark. Put a sea lantern or lantern every 4 or 5 blocks, and light the garden too. Glowing glass eyes also look great after sunset.

Questions

How do you build a cat house in Minecraft?

Build a hollow box in orange, grey or white, then add two stepped ears on top, a face on the front with glass eyes and a pink nose, and paws by the door. Finish with a tail out the back and lights inside. The three builds above show it at small, medium and giant size.

How do you make a cat statue in Minecraft?

A cat statue is the same idea as a cat house, just solid or mostly empty. Build a sitting body, add a head with ears and a face, then curl a tail beside it. The giant sitting cat above can be used as a statue if you leave the inside empty.

What blocks should I use for a Minecraft cat house?

Orange, light grey and white concrete or wool work best for fur, black concrete for stripes and pupils, and pink concrete for the nose and inner ears. Use lime or blue stained glass for eyes and sea lanterns for light. In survival, wool from sheep and terracotta are easy to get.
