Minecraft wizard tower ideas

A wizard tower is tall, spooky and full of magic, which makes it a favorite Minecraft build. The secret is a round stone tower with a big pointed hat on top. Below are three Minecraft wizard tower designs: a small one for beginners, a tall spire with a side turret, and a whole wizard academy with walls, towers and a courtyard.

Every design comes with a layer-by-layer blueprint and a materials list, so you can follow along block by block. In GenieCrafter you can also type the wish in chat and the genie builds its own version in your family's private world.

Tips for building your own

Build the tower round, not square

A round tower looks much more magical than a square one. Use circles of stone bricks and add a ring of polished andesite or planks every few blocks to break up the wall. Mix in mossy stone bricks near the bottom so it looks old.

The hat makes the wizard tower

Make the roof a tall cone, at least twice as tall as it is wide, with a wider brim at the bottom. Concrete in purple or blue looks great. Put a gold block, amethyst or a lantern on the very tip.

Add a spiral staircase inside

A spiral staircase that hugs the wall saves space and looks cool through the windows. Leave the middle open so you can see up to the top room. Put the enchanting table, bookshelves and a brewing stand in the top room.

Use balconies and bumps

A plain tall cylinder is boring. Make the tower wider in the middle or at the top, add a balcony ring with a fence around it and let a small turret stick out the side. Different widths make the tower look like it grew over time.

Light the windows

Stained glass windows look magical, and lanterns behind them make them glow at night. Light every floor so mobs cannot spawn inside. Sea lanterns and glowstone hide well in the ceiling.

Decorate the garden

Cauldrons, brewing stands and amethyst blocks make a witchy garden. Add a path, a few spruce trees and lantern posts. Amethyst blocks stacked in clusters look like glowing crystals.

Questions

How do you build a wizard tower in Minecraft?

Build a tall round tower from stone bricks, add a spiral staircase and windows, then top it with a tall cone roof like a wizard hat. Finish with a balcony, lanterns and a potion garden. The Apprentice Tower above is a good place to start.

What is the best roof for a Minecraft wizard tower?

A tall, thin cone with a wide brim looks the most like a wizard hat. Purple, blue and dark red concrete all work well. Make it hollow if you want an attic room, and put a crystal or gold block on top.

Are there blueprints for a Minecraft wizard tower?

Yes. Each design on this page has a layer-by-layer blueprint and a list of the blocks you need, so you can build it floor by floor. Start with the smallest one and work up to the academy.
